Saturday, January 7, 2006:  Dr. Jim Ingold, ornithologist at LSU-Shreveport, led the bird-banding efforts.  Other participants and visitors included Tom Walker of Jefferson, Tony Novak of Karnack, George & Susan Spears of Karnack, Charlona Ingram of Houston, Scott Brunner of Marshall, Doug & Judith Parker of Karnack, Ron Munden of Marshall, Sharon O'Neal and J.D. Cole of Plano, and JoAnn Pollick and Linda Bolick of Jefferson.

 

Weather Conditions:  Clear and sunny with a mild breeze from the south.  The morning low temperature was 33 F and the afternoon high was 65 F.
 

Number of Nets:  Fourteen (14).

 

Time:  We began putting up nets at 8:40 a.m. and had them closed by 5:00 p.m.

Weather Conditions:  Clear to partly cloudy with a small breeze from the west.  The morning low temperature was 42 F and the afternoon high was 54 F.
 

Number of Nets:  Twelve (12).

 

Time:  We began putting up nets at 8:30 a.m. and had them closed by 4:30 p.m.

Special Note:  A Northern Cardinal was recaptured today that was originally banded here on November 16, 1996.  It was a hatch-year male at that time, which makes it nine-and-a-half years old.
