Saturday, January 28, 2012:  Dr. Jim Ingold, ornithologist at LSU-Shreveport, led the bird-banding activities.  Other participants and visitors included Tom Walker of Jefferson; Celia, Nicki, Lydia & Clark Hancock of Texarkana; Karen & Katy Morris of Jefferson; Sandi Smith and son, Chance of Stanley, Louisiana; Dick Waldrep of New Boston; Charles Steger of Atlanta, Texas; Liz Hendrix of Shreveport; Holly Farris Bowden of Linden; Richard Bowden of Linden; Ron & Deloris Munden of Marshall; Becky Gullette of Carthage; Jackie Krieger of Dallas; and Karl & Desiree Krieger and children, Gideon and Lydia of Dallas; Hanna DeClerk, reporter, and Les Hassell, photographer, for the Longview News-Journal.  

 

Weather Conditions:  The morning low temperature was 38 F and the afternoon high was 55 F.  It was windy from the northwest as a cool front had moved through before dawn.  The sky was mostly sunny with high thin clouds.


Number of Nets:  Ten (10)

 

Time:  We started setting up nets at 9:40 a.m. and all nets were closed by 4:35 p.m.
