Bird Banding at Caddo Lake

Saturday, March 8, 2008:  Dr. Jim Ingold, ornithologist at LSU-Shreveport, led the bird-banding activities.  Other participants and visitors included Tom Walker of Jefferson, Chuck Hubbard of Karnack, Jim Lambright of Uncertain, John Owings of Uncertain, John Fortune of Houston, and Diane Jones of Jonesville.  

 

Weather Conditions:  The morning low temperature was 31 F and the afternoon high was 50 F.  The sky was clear with a breeze out of the west.  The day before it had snowed.

Number of Nets:  Thirteen (13)

 

Time:  We started putting up nets at 9:15 a.m. and all nets were closed by 5:10 p.m.

NOTE: A Carolina Chickadee was netted but let go unbanded, as we ran out of the proper band size.  One Chipping Sparrow was also released unbanded for the same reason.
