Saturday, November 19, 2011:  Dr. Jim Ingold, ornithologist at LSU-Shreveport, led the bird-banding activities.  Other participants and visitors included Tom Walker of Jefferson; Sandi Smith and son, Chance of Stanley, Louisiana; Charles DeVore of Karnack; Carla Bass of Smithland; Liz Hendrix of Shreveport; Linda Richtsmeier of Marshall; Sue Simmons of Karnack; Herman Hazarel of Michigan; Rick Lowerre of Austin; Mary Kelly of Austin; Mike Weber of Jefferson; Beth Honea and son, Nat of DeBerry, Texas; Cynthia & Sadie Hellen of Longview; Mike & Patty Thompson of Campbell, Texas; and Jim Lambright of Uncertain.


Weather Conditions:  The morning low temperature was 55 F and the afternoon high was 75 F.  We had heavy clouds for most of the day and a wind was blowing from the south.

Number of Nets:  Ten (10)


Time:  We started setting up nets at 9:15 a.m. and all nets were closed by 4:00 p.m.

Note:  The habitat north of the banding area has changed.  The forest has been cleared and the area is being readied for a pine plantation.
