Saturday, October 5, 2002:  Dr. Jim Ingold, ornithologist at LSU-Shreveport, led the bird-banding efforts.  Other participants included Ron and Deloris Munden of Marshall, Diane Jones of Jonesville, Dorothy Metzler of Longview, and Tom Walker of Jefferson.

 

Location:  The banding activities took place just west of Caddo Lake in Marion County on Boots Walker Road (near Jefferson, Texas).

 

Weather Conditions:  Clear and warm.  The morning low was around 70 and the high was in the mid-80's.

 

Time:  Jim and Tom began putting up nets at 8:30 a.m. and the nets were down by 3:00 p.m.

 

Number of Nets:  9 

 

Next Banding Date:  Saturday, October 12, 2002 (weather permitting).

Location:  The banding activities took place just west of Caddo Lake in Marion County on Boots Walker Road (near Jefferson, Texas).

 

Weather Conditions:  Clear and warm.  The morning low was in the upper 60's and the high was in the low 80's.

 

Time:  Jim and Tom began putting up nets at 8:45 a.m. and the nets were down by 4:45 p.m.

 

Number of Nets:  10

 

Special Note:  We caught and banded a Nashville Warbler, which does not breed here but is passing through on its migration south.  The only other time we've caught this species was on 16-Oct-99, when we caught and banded two.
