Friday, October 15, 2004:  Dr. Jim Ingold, ornithologist at LSU-Shreveport, led the bird-banding efforts.  Other participants included Tom Walker of Jefferson, Tony Novak of Uncertain, Josh Patterson of Karnack, True Mann of Longview, and Dorothy Metzler of Longview. 

 

Location:  The banding activities took place just west of Caddo Lake in Marion County on Boots Walker Road (near Jefferson, Texas).

 

Weather Conditions:  The morning low temperature was around 45 F, and the afternoon high was in the low to mid 70's. The sky was clear and winds were mostly calm.
 

Number of Nets:  Twelve (12) 

 

Time:  Nine nets were up by 10:15 a.m. and three additional nets were set up by 11:40 a.m.  Nets were closed by 4:30 p.m.

Saturday, October 23, 2004:  Dr. Jim Ingold, ornithologist at LSU-Shreveport, led the bird-banding efforts.  Other participants included Tom Walker of Jefferson, Colleen Cookson of Shreveport, Diane Jones of Jonesville, John Mazur and his son Michael of Shreveport, Leroy Williamson of Temple, and Tim Wilson of Linden. 

 

Location:  The banding activities took place just west of Caddo Lake in Marion County on Boots Walker Road (near Jefferson, Texas).

 

Weather Conditions:  Mostly cloudy and unseasonably warm.  The morning low temperature was 68 F, and the afternoon high was near 80 F.
 

Number of Nets:  Fourteen (14) 

 

Time:  We began setting up nets at 9:00 a.m. and began taking them down at 4:00 p.m.
